One thing that doesn\u2019t change though are some of the basics about how you approach your job search with a recruitment agency. It may seem like we are stating the obvious but we have put together some reminders\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><strong>Interviews\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nBe on time &#8211; 5 minutes early is perfect \u2013 10 minutes or more is probably a bit too early (and please don\u2019t bring your friends or relatives with you)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nIf you are going to be late let your interviewer know.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nMake sure you are neatly presented for interview \u2013 presentation is important<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nFirst impressions count!\u00a0 Take the sunglasses off your head, make sure phones are off and bottles of water are packed away<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nUnderstand the role you are interviewing for \u2013 have a copy of the PD and read it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nResearch the organisation\u2019s website to get a good understanding of their business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18.0pt;\">\n<strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Resume<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nBefore you send your resume anywhere get someone else to check it \u2013 spelling and formatting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nMake sure the email, phone numbers and dates of employment on your resume are correct<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nIf there are gaps in your employment \u2013 explain why.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nInclude your name and page number in the footer of every page<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 18.0pt;\">\n<strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Keeping Track<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nKeep track of where you are applying \u2013 the role and organisation so you are not doubling up on your applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nReturn calls promptly.\u00a0 Generally, we will call because we need to coordinate an interview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nAfter an interview, call your agency back with your feedback so it can be passed onto clients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nThink about your referees.\u00a0 Referees where possible should ideally direct managers or supervisors who can comment on work performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nConsultants do not expect you to only be interviewing for one position. So, be open and honest about where you are with your job search.\u00a0 If you have a second interview or are about to be made an offer let your recruiter know.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"margin-left: 18pt;\">\nPlease try and have voicemail, its hard to leave detailed messages on 10 second text !<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 21.3pt;\">\nThe basics can make the difference to getting the job, it&#8217;s always worth paying attention to them.
